Zephaniah, a contemporary of Jeremiah and possibly a descendant of King Hezekiah, delivered God's message of warning and hope during the reign of King Josiah in the late seventh century BC. He announced sweeping judgment — "the great Day of the Lord" — against Judah, Jerusalem, and the surrounding nations.
