Psalm 97 pictures God's reign in dramatic natural imagery, 'a fire goeth before him,' 'the hills melted like wax,' continuing the enthronement theme begun in Psalms 96 with the declaration 'the LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice.'
耶和華 作王！願地 快樂！願眾 海島 歡喜！
密雲 和幽暗 在他的四圍；公義 和公平 是他寶座 的根基。
有烈火 在他前頭 行，燒滅 他四圍 的敵人。
他的閃電 光照 世界，大地 看見 便震動。
諸山 見耶和華 的面，就是全 地 之主 的面，便消化 如蠟。
諸天 表明 他的公義；萬 民 看見 他的榮耀。
願一切 事奉 雕刻的偶像、靠虛無之神 自誇的，都蒙羞愧。萬 神哪，你們都當拜 他。
耶和華啊，錫安 聽見 你的判斷 就歡喜；猶大的城邑（原文是女子）也都快樂。
因為 你─耶和華 至高，超乎 全 地；你被尊崇，遠 超 萬 神之上。
你們愛 耶和華的，都當恨惡 罪惡；他保護 聖民 的性命，搭救他們 脫離惡人 的手。
散布 亮光 是為義人；預備喜樂 是為正直人。
你們義人 當靠耶和華 歡喜，稱謝 他可記念的 聖名。
