Art Quotes
Why people make it, and who it's for.

Those who educate children well are more to be honored than they who produce them; for these only gave them life, those the art of living well.

Every art and every inquiry, and similarly every action and choice, is thought to aim at some good; and for this reason the good has rightly been declared to be that at which all things aim.

Rhetoric may be defined as the faculty of observing in any given case the available means of persuasion. This is not a function of any other art.

As an artist, I will always give art more importance and preference than pure entertainment.

My mum was a dancer when she was a kid. Then my parents met and eventually had an art gallery; my dad taught himself how to frame pictures, and then he was a curator at an art gallery in the city I'm from. I'm an only child.

I have a running daydream about winning an Oscar and giving my speech about how ridiculous it is to rank art. And then I'd call them all sycophants and leave the statue at the podium as I walked away.

I love doing my podcast, but it's not my art form. I don't have to work on it. It's off the cuff.

It is not up to me whether I win or lose. Ultimately, this might not be my day. And it is that philosophy towards sports, something that I really truly live by. I am emotional. I want to win. I value above all the ability of art to move me emotionally and psychically, without answers. I make art that makes me question, that derives its power from being vulnerable to interpretation, that is intuitive, that is beautiful.

As I continued to grow throughout middle and high school, I began to expose myself to different areas of art like makeup, fashion, and later drag. I always had costumes laying around my house, so there were plenty of opportunities for me to dress up and turn a look.

For me, some of the key points of drag are knowing who you are, how you want to go about making people happy with your art, and why you're doing what you're doing.

Drag will always be a dynamic and powerful art form, and it is my duty now to honor the artists who have come before me while continuing to pioneer my own path and history by being open to growth and change as a human and a drag superstar.

'Drag Race' is so unique in how much progress it has made in how people think of people in LGBTQIA-plus community and has helped make big strides in the way queer art is perceived.

I'm a very femme gay boy, so what better way to express that than through drag? It truly is the greatest mix of art forms.

I kind of roll my eyes when people say they make music for themselves or they make art just for themselves, because, maybe in their head, what that means is that they're making it for someone who they don't think is real. Their audience isn't real. But it's still a communicative act. It's still an outward manifestation of longing.
