Think Quotes
Quotes that share what people really think.
Many quotes here open with a direct 'I think,' offering personal beliefs - some lighthearted, like using comedy as a defense, others sobering, including grim predictions about where humanity is headed. A few weigh in on cryptography and the future of communication, a subject also touched on in Life Quotes.

A lot of folks look at the political calculation and then determine the policy. I think that's backward.

If you sing beautifully about nothing, no one will listen. If you sing badly about great stuff, no one will listen. Ideas are everywhere, but my theory is that a writer doesn't just think of an idea: they perform them.
- Down

In some ways. I always feel between worlds, between cultures, and I think that's not necessarily a bad place for a writer to be. Writers are kind of on the fringe anyway, observing, writing things down. I'm still mostly American, but it's a nice tension.

A book cannot apologize for what people may think it should be. It has to be authoritative. That's what I want as a reader - I want to be confident that the book will do its job.

Happiness is precious, and so I prefer to keep mine private. In a world where everyone shares everything, I can think of a lot of happy moments, but they're mine.

If I sit down to write a young-adult novel, then I'm going to write either to the punch-pulling expectation of what I can't do, or I'm going to go the other way and think about what can I sneak in to be 'down with the kids' - which would be excruciating.
- Nobody

I don't purposely push the boundaries... I think if you pay attention to a story, it will have exactly as much 'difficult material' as it needs, and nobody will complain about it because you've earnt it.
- Habit

I have a severe Google Reader habit. I think people will use blog forms and Twitter to contrive fiction.

People think, 'Well, because you're at Google, you can work from anywhere.' Yes, you can work from anywhere, but many just commute to offices... Working from the office is really important.

I just love shows that don't hand everything to you, that ask you to be smarter. I think that's something really important that HBO has done to change the landscape of TV.
- Heart

I don't think people can die on 'Suits.' It's still, at its heart, an aspirational show, and it would be so hard to watch these people wrestle with that.
- Responsibility
- |
- Nov 07, 2020
I do think we have a responsibility to be aware of the stories we're telling and how those stories will be interpreted and what sorts of value systems we're celebrating.
- Chance

I think the big thing is you really have one chance to do this... to play hockey for a living, you have one chance at your career, and you have to take full advantage of it.
- Game

I love the game of hockey. I love being part of it. I think I know a lot about the game.
