Reality Quotes
What's real depends on where you're standing.
This set weighs reality against illusion, touching on digital-age facts that can't be hidden, the difference between a screen character and the actor playing tough, and why escapist fantasy still appeals. For adjacent emotional ground, see our Pain quotes.

'W.' is not necessarily a political film, but it was sort of a contrasting reality for me to get into George W. Bush as a character because of how I felt about his administration before I started making the film.

I have to tell you, you can't have an ego when you're an actor. A lot of actors have them, but in reality most of those people are just sensitive artists dying for a hug and a compliment.

I have to bring to your notice a terrifying reality: with the development of nuclear weapons Man has acquired, for the first time in history, the technical means to destroy the whole of civilization in a single act.

The reality is that what we did in 2010 with the Dodd-Frank wasn't enough.

I like the idea of isolation. I like the reality of it. You realize what you are... not that the knowledge is inevitably rewarding.

No matter how daring or cautious you may choose to be, in the course of your life, you are bound to come into direct physical contact with what's known as Evil. I mean here not a property of the gothic novel but, to say the least, a palpable social reality that you in no way can control.

Everybody fights for money, of course, but I wanted to leave a legacy when I retired, get my name in the history. I don't think like that anymore. When I lost the belt, I saw how reality is. Champion means nothing.

Mixing humour and harsh reality is a very human behaviour, it's the way people stay sane in their daily lives.

Everything that comes along with 'The Bachelorette' as far as the media was a crazy experience. Crazy fans and trolls and the things that come with the reality side of TV.

I read a bit of the Icelandic sagas. They're fascinating in that they are completely ordinary. The farmer will go off into the hills and fight a troll, and then go back and do ordinary things. It's an odd mix of fantasy and reality.
