Me Quotes
Quotes rooted in the first person.
These are quotes centered on 'me' - childhood memories tied to family traditions, like a grandfather's holiday reading passed down for decades, alongside admissions about how humor can double as self-protection. Several speak to the solitary nature of creative work, something also explored in Life Quotes.

It took me a long time to blossom. Everyone else understood how to socialize and how to look. I didn't get the memo.

Usually, when people hear my last name, before they really get to know me or work with me, there's probably a lot of preconceived notions that come with that. And I imagine most of them aren't good. Because for every wonderful second generation of a famous person, there's people that aren't that way. More entitled people.
- Crisis

There's an identity crisis that happens when you give birth. I don't care how confident, how secure you are, how much help you have, how many kids you have. For me, it was major.

When people stop me to say they love 'Workin' Moms,' it's not just that the show makes them laugh or is a great escape - they tell me my, or another, character's story is their story.

I can't deny that I've had a privileged upbringing. I've been really fortunate regarding how I entered this world, not just financially, but in that I have really great parents who show me a lot of love.
- Lunch

Taking lunch by myself every once in a while and slowing down - that helps me a lot.
- Red
- |
- Nov 07, 2020
I used to go red when anybody spoke to me. It's awful because you absolutely cannot control it. If you are a child that blushes, or is shy, the one thing you want in the world is to be the child who comes in and says, 'Hi,' to everyone and goes up and makes friends.
- Funny

When I realised I had a facility for humour, I latched on to it, and it gave me confidence and I built my personality around it. So I subconsciously made myself become the funny one so that would be my label rather than the ginger one or the red-faced one.
- Personality

I realised that if you get yourself labeled as the funny one, people don't look any further. I've used that as I've got older. It's controlling: I decide what part of my personality you're seeing. I don't want you to look at me, I really don't. I don't want you to comment on my clothes, my hair or the way I look.

I'm an incredibly negative person, so any form of success is only ever going to be a relief to me and set my default position back to neutral.

If I hadn't had a baby, a part of me thinks I might have turned up on the red carpets all the time and gone, 'Hi, it's me!' Maybe other people do it because they haven't got kids and they've nowhere else to be. But because I have, I don't feel like that.
- Bad

Any degree of success or achievement for me is only ever a relief. My version of getting carried away is: 'Mmm, that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.'
- Exposing

'Writing' always means 'not writing' to me because I will do anything to put it off. I think this is mainly because writing anything down and then handing it over to a third party - especially in comedy - is such an exposing act that you naturally want to delay the process.
- Son

Sometimes I look at my opponent, and I resent them because of the time I miss with my son by having to train for them, and that gives me even more strength.
