Man Quotes
Short lines on character, patience and what it means to be a man.
This is a smaller, general collection of quotes touching on manhood, character and patience. One well-known line uses golf as an example, a test of temperament disguised as a leisure game, to make a wider point about what reveals a man's spirit. For steadier, values-driven lines, see our Good quotes.

I don't care to be remembered as the man who scored six touchdowns in a game. I want to be remembered as a winner in life.

Who would set a limit to the mind of man? Who would dare assert that we know all there is to be known?

Nature is relentless and unchangeable, and it is indifferent as to whether its hidden reasons and actions are understandable to man or not.

Love is so holy, so confusing. It makes a man anxious, tormented. Love, how can I define it?

I wanted to write about the transformative power of small acts of kindness. An old man falls in the street, you stop and make sure he's OK. Or even smaller acts than that, though - buying someone a cup of coffee, telling them their hair looks nice - sometimes you don't realise the transformative effect on people. I wanted to celebrate that.

But that's my point on intergender wrestling - I don't like to see things where a man is going to punch a woman. I just think about the kids that are watching. I take that into consideration.

We always tell everyone that women's wrestling has always been told through the lens of a man because it's a male-dominated industry. It's never been told through the lens of a woman and we want to be able to tell that story.

The stuff we're seeing in 'Deadpool' and 'Harley Quinn' now, Plastic Man was doing in the 1940s. It's a character that was ahead of its time back then and the stories are still funny and still relevant.

I always look for a story that hasn't been told in the same way. I don't care about a lot of the usual elements people use for a quick drama boost. I want to know, for example, what happens when a man who was victimized by his father tries to be a father to a woman sixty years his senior.

Sometimes it's not even a role that's specifically written for a woman. It could be a role written for a white man or Asian man, or Latino. If it's something that I feel I could do well, I go after it. Especially if it's nothing that has to be gender or race specific, I'm all over it.

We all have a cross-gender character: Every woman has a man that they can play, and every man has a woman that they can play.

I thought to myself, there's a man who gave up his life to serve others - to touch people in that way is probably the greatest thing you can do as a human being.
