Psalms 67 – Let All the People Praise Thee

A short blessing that God's ways be known to all nations.

Psalms 67: God Be Merciful Unto Us

One of the shortest chapters in the Psalms overview, this psalm asks for God's blessing not for its own sake but so His saving health becomes known among all nations. Its refrain, repeated twice, calls every people to praise Him.

For the Leader; with string-music. A Psalm, a Song.

G-d be gracious unto us, and bless us; may He cause His face to shine toward us; Selah

That Thy way may be known upon earth, Thy salvation among all nations.

Let the peoples give thanks unto Thee, O G-d; let the peoples give thanks unto Thee, all of them.

O let the nations be glad and sing for joy; for Thou wilt judge the peoples with equity, and lead the nations upon earth. Selah

Let the peoples give thanks unto Thee, O G-d; let the peoples give thanks unto Thee, all of them.

The earth hath yielded her increase; may G-d, our own G-d, bless us.

May G-d bless us; and let all the ends of the earth fear Him.

The psalm closes by tying blessing to harvest, promising that the earth will yield its increase as God blesses His people, an idea also touched in Psalms 4:6. Psalms 68 follows with a much longer hymn of triumph.
