Psalms 134

The Psalter's shortest call to bless the Lord at night.

Psalms 134 - Bless the Lord by Night

Psalm 134 is the final and shortest of the songs of ascent, calling on the servants "which by night stand in the house of the LORD" to lift their hands in the sanctuary and bless Him. It closes the sequence begun many chapters earlier, following directly after Psalms 133's picture of unity.

<A Song of the going up.> Give praise to the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who take your places in the house of the Lord by night.

Give praise to the Lord, lifting up your hands in his holy place.

May the Lord, who made heaven and earth, send you blessing out of Zion,

Its closing benediction, that the LORD "who made heaven and earth" would bless the worshiper out of Zion, mirrors the promise of a blessed household in <a href="/bible/bbe/psalms/chapter-128/5">Psalms 128:5</a>.
