Psalms 128

A psalm blessing the family and labor of those who fear God.

Psalms 128 - Blessing on the God-Fearing Home

Psalm 128 pronounces blessing on "every one that feareth the LORD," describing a household where the wife is "as a fruitful vine" and children sit "like olive plants round about thy table." This picture of a flourishing home continues straight from the household blessing of Psalms 127.

Blessed is every one that feareth Jehovah, That walketh in his ways.

For thou shalt eat the labor of thy hands: Happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine, In the innermost parts of thy house; Thy children like olive plants, Round about thy table.

Behold, thus shall the man be blessed That feareth Jehovah.

Jehovah bless thee out of Zion: And see thou the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

Yea, see thou thy children's children. Peace be upon Israel. Psalm 129 A Song of Ascents.

The psalm closes by promising long life, enough "to see thy children's children," alongside peace upon Israel, a reward for the upright similar to Isaiah 3:10.
