Psalms 67 – Let All the People Praise Thee

A short blessing that God's ways be known to all nations.

Psalms 67: God Be Merciful Unto Us

One of the shortest chapters in the Psalms overview, this psalm asks for God's blessing not for its own sake but so His saving health becomes known among all nations. Its refrain, repeated twice, calls every people to praise Him.

God be merciful to us, and bless us, and cause his face to shine upon us (Selah),

that thy way may be known upon earth, thy salvation among all nations.

Let the peoples praise thee, O God. Let all the peoples praise thee.

O let the nations be glad and sing for joy. For thou will judge the peoples with equity, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.

Let the peoples praise thee, O God. Let all the peoples praise thee.

The earth has yielded its increase. God, even our own God, will bless us.

God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

The psalm closes by tying blessing to harvest, promising that the earth will yield its increase as God blesses His people, an idea also touched in Psalms 4:6. Psalms 68 follows with a much longer hymn of triumph.
